Introducing The Renaud Tixier Monday Organica Black & Bordeaux

After the blossom comes the root and the fruit: Renaud Tixier closes its Organica triptych with two new grand feu enamel dials.

What We Know

Renaud Tixier is not a Maison in a hurry, and its watches take time to appear from the steady hands of Swiss sensei Domique Renaud and artisan Julien Tixier - especially now that Renaud has his own brand of big-balanced innovation to work on alongside this long-term collaboration. This is the final part of an organic trilogy, fittingly, as a third party is involved in the making: dial maestro Olivier Vaucher.

Each of the two watches is strictly limited to seven pieces, and both hide the movement's shape in plain sight, either in rose gold with a deep burgundy dial or in 950 platinum with a black dial that appears unfeasibly vibrant thanks to its enamel. The inspiration behind the seemingly organic dial art is, in fact, parts of the actual RVI2023 movement from the Renaud Tixier Monday collection.

Born from the vision of Dominique Renaud, a defining creative force in watchmaking for more than forty years, in partnership with the young artisan Julien Tixier, each carries a patented innovation and is named for a day of the week, for now not yet past the first. The case follows the limited-production Monday, with a 40.8mm case in precious metals, brushed and polished with the added flex of exuberant grainage on the scalloped sides and between the lugs. (I had the pleasure of visiting Renaud's atelier in late 2025, so I’ve included a shot of the regular-series Renaud Tixier Monday with its grainage dial and small seconds at 4, as well as myself with the friendly Monsieur Renaud, below.)

The Renaud Tixier Monday.

Thor Svaboe and Dominique Renaud.

The Monday grew out of a relationship started in 2016, appearing in 2024 with an innovative micro-rotor fitted with a flywheel to improve automatic-winding efficiency, similar to a regen effect in a hybrid or EV. The Organica series takes that RVI2023 calibre and turns it into art, quite literally, since the intricate organic motif on the dial is derived from the curves of three components of the RVI2023 movement. Ateliers Olivier Vaucher made the dials with a mix of métiers d’art: hand engraving, hand chasing, and grand feu enamel, first seen in the deep blue version last year that I was lucky to try on in Genève. It reads on two levels at once, both artistic and mechanical, without either exhausting the other.

The Renaud Tixier Monday Organica trilogy.

In fact, the mechanical is equally artistic, as Julien Tixier’s work with Dominique, known for his groundbreaking work as half of Renaud & Papi decades ago, is craft-made metal. Having opened last year with the blues of the first Renaud Tixier Monday Organica in platinum, the trilogy now closes with Black and Bordeaux, each made for only seven collectors, a number taken from the days of the week. Pricing for the Black and Bordeaux is as of publishing TBC, but last year’s blue version was in the region of CHF 125,000.

What We Think

The Renaud Tixier Monday Organica, in both warm rose gold and monochromatic platinum, exhibits a fascinating duality of mechanical prowess and grand feu enamel that jauntily crosses over into jewellery-born métiers d’art. The grainage, hand-engraved on the deep flanks of the case, slim at 10.8mm, adds another dimension and, with the dial, easily jostles for attention no matter how deep your mechanical love goes.

Equally, no matter how much of a dial-first collector you are, I dare you not to be blown away by the 187 inward angles of the movement, a serious finishing flex. Behold: an impressive 274 components, titanium bridges and balance cock, gold-plated platinum micro-rotor, platinum flywheel and a 60-hour power reserve. The open-worked bridges of the RVI2023 calibre are dramatic, dynamic in shape, and the movement itself is clearly designed for its innovative functionality, not geometric beauty... Although it is beautiful.

There is a system to the layered madness, though, and a deep dive makes it almost scholarly in its complexity, with a tiny touch of colour popping up as enamel on the spring barrel: a burgundy sparkle for the rose gold-cased version, and a mysterious Rorschach test-like black seen through the back of the platinum case.

For many, the praise for Renaud himself has been a long time coming, known more as an inventor, but now solidly positioning himself, with Julien Tixier, in the ultra-rare independent tier as well as with his eponymous brand. Dominique Renaud’s post-Renaud-et-Papi second act has got me following him closely, for all the right reasons, even if my personal budget will never be mentioned in the same sentence unless I sell all my watches and cars (and rework the mortgage...)
