Introducing TAG Heuer's Formula 1 Solargraph Softens Up With New Pastels

And of course, they're debuting in time for the Miami Grand Prix.

What We Know

It's easy to argue that the relaunch of the TAG Heuer Formula 1 (with the added bonus of a solar-powered movement) was both highly anticipated and resulted in one of the most fun summer watches of 2025. Some of the watches stuck around, and some were short-term limited editions tied to different Formula 1 races throughout the year. But if you were waiting for alternative watches (especially vintage-inspired ones), you're in luck, because the brand has dozens of previous variations they haven't tapped to re-release yet. So with that in mind, TAG Heuer has gone for more pastel-inspired releases that start pre-sale on April 28th.

The new Formula 1 models come in five variations: from pastel blue, beige/yellow, or pink TH-Polylight cases (TAG Heuer's proprietary bio-polyamide plastic) that are colour-matched to their opaline dials and Polylight bezels or with sandblasted steel cases with violet-blue dials/bezel with pink accents or pastel green dials/bezels (with eight VS-grade diamonds in place of the circular hour markers), there's a lot of variations available.

There's no doubt that these watches lean a bit more feminine than previous releases. The sizing is pretty unisex, however, measuring 38mm by 9.9mm with solid casebacks and screw-down crowns, giving the watch 100m of water resistance. The watches with the Polylight cases come on colour-matched rubber straps with pin buckles, while the stainless steel versions have matching sandblasted stainless steel three-row bracelets with deployant clasps.

Inside the case is the brand's TH50-00 solar-powered movement. That means no winding, no changing the battery, just a solar-charging movement that gets 10 months of power when it's fully charged. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, and date, and the hands and rhodium-plated polished applied indexes have Super-LumiNova. Prices start at 2,950 AUD for the versions with Polylight cases, while the stainless steel models (with diamond indices) retail for 4,250 AUD. As of publishing, all models go on pre-sale on the 28th of April (Editor's Note: which means they're timed just right for the 2026 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, which runs from the 2nd to the 4th of May).

What We Think

TAG Heuer obviously has a hit on its hands with the new Formula 1 line. I know that there was a bit of sticker shock last year when the brand decided to upgrade the watches with a solar movement, but I think it was the right choice. As much as we can be nostalgic for the old models that can be found for a few hundred dollars online, there's a reality that the average modern consumer 1) doesn't know how to find these watches 2) doesn't want to wade through watches to find something that is authentic and correct and 3) mostly just wants a modern watch with reliable specs that they can just wear.

The new Formula 1 releases check the boxes in a lot of great ways. While I'm not the right fit for these pastel watches, they remind me that I meant to pick up one of the examples last year and forgot.
